The Back Story
About
The New Jersey Happiness Foundation (NJHF) was an idea based on my experience with community service as a Boy Scout during middle school. I wanted to do something specific for mental health advocacy (awareness, assistance and research) after seeing the pandemic related isolation and depression come very close to my own classmates. I wanted to rally the community together to bring compassion and understanding around mental health issues. The NJHF drives have been a fun way to get a group of friends to come together and do something good for complete strangers, even during a global pandemic. We have raised funds and contributions through food drives, sandwich drives, basketball game drives and holiday drives since May 2021.
The local paper wrote a story about NJHF here and here.

Why?
The world can be a hard place but that doesn't mean we have to go at it alone. The inequitable distribution of resources is a problem that has a long historical and social context.
Let's build each other up and support those around us and those going through a rough patch.
Spread Happiness
Paraphrasing Ralph Waldo Emerson, when he says there is no better beautifier of complexion or form or behavior than the wish to scatter joy and not pain around us.
